A Morning at the Market
Last Saturday, Lucas decided to visit the local market in the city centre. The weather was a bit grey, so he put on his mac and left his flat early. He took the lift to the ground floor and started walking towards the high street.
When he arrived, the market was already busy. He saw a stall selling beautiful woollen jumpers and another with fresh fruit and vegetables. Lucas was feeling a bit peckish, so he stopped at a small bakery. He bought a warm pasty and a fizzy drink.
While he was eating, he realized he needed to buy a gift for his friend’s housewarming party. He found a lovely shop that sold handmade clocks. He picked a small one, paid at the till, and asked for a carrier bag.
"That will be fifteen pounds, please," the shop assistant said.
After shopping, Lucas headed to the underground station. He waited on the platform for five minutes until the train arrived. It was crowded, but he managed to find a seat. When he finally got home, he realized he had left his mobile phone on the kitchen worktop all morning.
"What a daft mistake," he laughed to himself. He spent the rest of the afternoon drinking a cup of tea and reading a book.
