바다는 멀리서 보면 평화로워 보이지만, 가까이에서 보면 파도가 세게 치기도 해요.

햇빛이 바닷물에 비치면 물빛이 반짝여서 아주 아름다워요.

사람들은 바다에서 수영을 하거나 산책을 하면서 휴식을 즐겨요.

그러나 날씨가 나쁘면 바다는 위험해지기 때문에 조심해야 해요.

1) 바다는 멀리서 보면 평화로워 보이지만, 가까이에서 보면 파도가 세게 치기도 해요.

바다는 = as for the sea (topic marker -는)

멀리서 보면 = if (you) look from far away

멀리서 = from far away (멀리 = far + -서 = from)

보면 = if (you) look (보다 + conditional -면)

평화로워 보이지만 = it looks peaceful, but

평화롭다 → 평화로워 = peaceful

-아/어 보이다 = looks/appears to be

-지만 = but, although

가까이에서 보면 = if (you) look from close by

파도가 세게 치기도 해요 = waves sometimes hit strongly

파도 = wave

세게 = strongly (adverb from 세다)

치다 = to hit/crash

비치다 = to shine/refelect

-면 = if/when

물빛이 반짝여서 = the color of the water sparkles, so

반짝이다 → 반짝여 = to sparkle

아주 아름다워요 = is very beautiful

-면서 = while (simultaneous action)

휴식을 즐겨요 = enjoy rest/relaxation

휴식 = rest

즐기다 → 즐겨요 = to enjoy

4) 그러나 날씨가 나쁘면 바다는 위험해지기 때문에 조심해야 해요.

날씨가 나쁘면 = if the weather is bad

바다는 위험해지기 때문에 = the sea becomes dangerous, because

위험하다 = to be dangerous

-아/어지다 = to become (위험해지다 = becomes dangerous)
