First Day of School

Scene: Institute Courtyard - First Day of School

**Characters:**

* **Alex:** A first-year student, a bit nervous.

* **Ben:** A second-year student, friendly and outgoing.

**(Alex is standing near a fountain, looking a bit lost. Ben approaches him.)**

**Ben:** Hey! You look a bit lost. Are you new here?

**Alex:** (Startled) Oh, uh, yeah. I'm Alex. First day. It's a bit overwhelming.

**Ben:** I get it! First days can be like that. I'm Ben, by the way. Second year. Don't worry, you'll find your way around soon enough.

**Alex:** Thanks, Ben. It's good to meet someone. I'm in the Faculty of Engineering.

**Ben:** Nice! I'm in the Faculty of Arts. So, what are you studying?

**Alex:** I'm going for Computer Science. It's what I've always wanted to do.

**Ben:** That's cool! We have some great CS professors here. You'll like it. So, where are you from?

**Alex:** I'm from a small town a couple of hours away. I'm living in the dorms. How about you?

**Ben:** I'm from around here, so I live at home with my family. It's convenient, but I kinda wish I had the dorm experience.

**Alex:** Yeah, I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm also excited to meet new people.

**Ben:** You will! There are tons of clubs and activities you can join. You'll find your crowd in no time.

**Alex:** That's good to know. I was thinking about checking out the gaming club.

**Ben:** Awesome! I'm in the film club myself. Maybe we can hang out sometime.

**Alex:** Definitely! Hey, do you know where the main lecture hall is? I have my first class in like, ten minutes.

**Ben:** Sure, I can point you in the right direction. It's just over there. Come on, I'll walk you.

**Alex:** That'd be great, thanks!

**(They start walking together.)**

**Alex:** So, what's your favorite thing about this institute?

**Ben:** Hmm, that's a tough one. I guess I really like the atmosphere. It's a good mix of serious studying and fun activities.

**Alex:** Yeah, I'm getting that vibe already. I'm glad I chose this place.

**Ben:** You made a good choice! Just remember, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. We're all in this together.

**Alex:** Thanks, Ben. I appreciate that.

**(They reach the lecture hall.)**

**Ben:** Here you go. Good luck with your first class!

**Alex:** Thanks, Ben! See you around.

**Ben:** For sure! Have a great day!

**(Ben heads off in another direction, and Alex enters the lecture hall, feeling much more confident about his first day.)**
