IELTS - Curs de pregătireCuvinte în engleză
by DuoCards

"It could be..."
"This might be..."

"Time to eat children. vs Time to eat, children."
Poți vedea ce vreau să spun aici?
De asemenea, folosim virgule înainte de vorbirea directă.

De asemenea, trebuie să folosim întotdeauna virgule după expresii precum however, nevertheless, to be honest, etc.

"He is a nice and friendly man" -> "He is nice, friendly man."

delicios
She cooked a scrumptious meal for us.
to purchase something
a cumpăra ceva
I need to purchase some new clothes for the party.
previous

"My best friend loves snakes, but not all of my friends like them."

Când ne referim la animale, folosim it.

"At eight o'clock we are usually having breakfast."
With something which *we think is temporary.*
"Michael is at university. He's studying history."
"These days most people are using email instead of writing letters."

The other day I'm just walking down the street when suddenly this man comes up to me and asks me to lend him some money.

Well, he's carrying a big stick and he looks a bit dangerous, so I'm wondering what to do …

Îl construim cu *subiect + have/has + participiu trecut.*
"I have intoruduced myself."
I have never caught a glimpse of that.
Nu am zărit niciodată așa ceva.

They have been pronounced husband and wife.

I haven't given up on him yet.
Să aruncăm o privire la *diferența dintre gone to și been to:*
gone to = persoana este încă plecată
been to = persoana a plecat din acel loc, dar s-a întors deja"

She has gone to Belgium. She should return in December.
A plecat în Belgia. Ar trebui să se întoarcă în decembrie.

voracious
nesățios
She has been to several book fairs, driven by her voracious appetite for reading.
to suggest
a sugera
I suggest we go to the new Italian restaurant downtown; I've been to it once, and the food was amazing.
Acum preferatul tuturor *present perfect continuous.*
Îl formăm folosind *subject + have/has been + -ing*

She has been living in whimsical Africa since 1995.
Ea locuiește în Africa cea capricioasă din 1995.
I have been painting on this canvas all morning.
Am pictat pe această pânză toată dimineața.

They have been cutting down these damaged pine trees.
"We will begin when everyone arrives."
vs
"We will gegin when everyone has arrived."
I'll keep on looking until I have found my book.

I will not stop until I have become the best leader.
ineffable

resilient
rezilient
By next year, she will have become even more resilient in handling challenges.

anticipate
anticipa
By the time the project is completed, we will have anticipated all potential challenges and addressed them accordingly.
- ceva care *s-a întâmplat în trecut* - "I crashed my car into a bridge last week."
I made jokes about him each time I saw him."
I lacked motivation for my exam, that's why it took me 3 attempts."
- folosim expresia *ago* în trecut - "I met my wife 30 years ago."
to bear (bore, borne)
a suporta
to blow (blew, blown)
a sufla
The strong wind blew the papers off the table.
to be (was/were, been)
a fi (am fost, fost)
She was the top performer in last night's talent show.
to shake (shook, shaken)
a tremura
She shook the rug to remove the dust.
to shrink (shrank, shrunk)
a intra la apă
The sweater shrank in the wash, so now it's too small for me to wear.
to tear (tore, torn)
a rupe (rupt)
I accidentally tore my shirt on a nail.
to creep (crept, crept)
a se furișa
I crept up the stairs so as not to wake the baby.
to cling (clung, clung)
a se agăța

to sweep (swept, swept)

to shoot (shot, shot)

Apoi avem, de asemenea, toate cele *3 forme neschimbate:*
to upset (upset, upset)
a tulbura
The news upset him deeply, leaving him in a somber mood all day.
to bid (bid, bid)
a-și lua rămas bun
She bid farewell to her friends as she left for her new job abroad.
to lie (lied, lied)
a minți
He lied about his whereabouts to avoid getting into trouble.

to lie on a surface (lay, lain)
a sta întins pe o suprafață
The cat lay on the sunny windowsill all afternoon.
to lay (laid, laid)
a pune
She laid the baby down in the crib.
Mulți oameni uită că putem folosi trecutul simplu atunci când ne referim la prezent sau viitor în ipoteze (când vă imaginați ceva)
"Imagine you won the lottery. What would you do?"

Imagine you encountered an ancient artifact. How perplexed would you be by its origins?
"She had published her first book by the time she was ten."
De asemenea, îl folosim *pentru a arăta ordinea a două evenimente trecute.* Past perfect arată acțiunea anterioară, iar past simple acțiunea ulterioară:
"When I got home I realized I had forgotten to buy groceries."
Folosim adesea *already, still, just, ever, sau never* cu acest timp.
to scurry
a se fofila
By the time the storm hit, the mice had already scurried into their burrows.
to snuggle
a se cuibări
The children had snuggled under the blankets before the power went out.
to neglect
a neglija

By the time the final exam started, the sheer amount of material to review had already overwhelmed the students.
to testify
a depune mărturie
The witness had testified in court before the new evidence was discovered.
"When George died, he and Anne had been married for nearly fifty years."
"He was a wonderful guitarist. He had been playing ever since he was a teenager."
"My thirtieth birthday was the worst day I had ever had."

"Will you have gone to bed when I get back?"
Putem folosi expresii precum *by* sau *by the time* (la un moment dat înainte), *in* sau *in a day's time/in two months' time/in five years' time* (la sfârșitul perioadei) pentru a da perioada de timp în care acțiunea va fi finalizată.

"If you study hard, you will pass the exam."
Ordinea propozițiilor nu schimbă sensul. Dar atenție la punctuație!
If I finish this course, I will be ready for the IELTS exam!
"If you freeze water, it becomes solid."
"Water becomes solid if you freeze it."

If you confine your creativity, you do not reach your full potential.
"If it rains, we will stay at home."
*if/when clause + prezent simplu, will + infinitiv*
De asemenea, vă puteți lovi de utilizări precum *unless, as long as, as soon as* sau *in case* în loc de *if*.
"I'll leave as soon as Lucy arrives."
"I don't want to do it unless you treat me with respect."
"I will show you to the kitchen in case you get hungry."
"You can call my sister as long as you stay just friends."

If you see a good opportunity, you will grab it without hesitation.
"If we moved to a bigger house, we could get another dog."
Structură: *if clause + past simple, would + infinitiv*
Atunci când *if este urmat de verbul be*, este corect din punct de vedere gramatical să se utilizeze ca *were*: "if I were, if she were."

"If I had paid more attention, I wouldn't have to study as much."

Simți că nu are sens? Să verificăm câteva exemple:
"If I hadn't got the job in Tokyo, I wouldn't be with my current partner."
Structură: *if + past perfect, would + infinitive*
"It's really important. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have called you on your holiday."
Structură: *if + past simple, would have + past participle*
