Fast food as a reason of health problems

Q. In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food.

With the advent of advanced technology, there have been massive changes in the production of food. In consequence, a large number of people have started to live on convenience food in the aftermath of which the number of people who have various health issues has mushroomed. As a result, it is сlaimed that the governments should put higher taxes on junk food. This essay agrees with this statement and will suggest some reasons.

As a matter of fact, there are several reasons why higher taxes should be put. The primary reason for this could be that it will lead to the condition where it is needed to run short of fast food. In other words, the production of ready-made food will have a sluggish pace or even could be curtailed. For example, as many Americans consume fast food only, if higher taxes are imposed, a lot of people will cut down on convenience food and new avenues for producing natural and high-calorie food will be opened up. Therefore, if higher taxes are set, there will be fewer health troubles akin to junk food.

Undoubtedly, the second reason would be that the budget of the country does benefit from taxes. Were the taxes coming from fast food production spent on the improvement in other sectors, the government would build a robust economy. Take an example of medicine, if a plethora of changes are made in this department, the quality of healthcare will be improved, hence leading to less health problems. Thus, having high taxes is tremendously essential.

As has been shown, I completely agree that the production of fast food should carry higher taxes since it leads to the consumption of naturally prepared food, and to the advancements in medicine. It is my fervent hope that the convenience food will even be thwarted to consume in the foreseeable future.
