weather vocabulary: từ vựng về thời tiết
note: lưu ý
hot: nóng examples it's so hot : nóng quá
gosh is I'm hot as hell trời ơi nóng vãi
it's really hot today isn't it: hôm nay nóng quá ha
Vãi is a slang that can be added after the adjective
for higher intensity of whatever adjective that you use
and is pretty popular among the young population in Vietnam
the equivalent meaning in English can be: as hell / AF / extremely
air conditioner northern dialect: điều hòa
Southern dialect máy lạnh examples so hot let's turn on the AC
In the north we say: nóng quá, bật điều hòa nhé?
in the south: nóng quá, mở máy lạnh đi?
If you say điều hòa in the South people most likely will still understand
and the south version MÁY LẠNH is literally mean MACHINE COLD
so MÁY is machine and Lạnh is cold
this is a very *common way to make combined-nouns in Viet Vietnamese
Sunny: Nắng
example
let's go out it's good sunny weather today
Đi chơi đi hôm nay trời nắng đẹp nè
don't go outside at noon when the sun is blazing, wait until the evening when it's cooler
Giữa trưa nắng chang chang đừng có đi ra đường
đợi chiều tối mát mát rồi đi đâu thì đi
this sounds very much like what Vietnamese moms would say or at least my mom
so the sentence structure here we can see that if you want to suggest somebody to go do something or uh to go do something together
you can say the the VERB and add the word ĐI the at the end so some examples
go study it will be HỌC BÀI ĐI
go work it would be LÀM VIỆC ĐI
go sleep it would be NGỦ ĐI or ĐI NGỦ ĐI
let's go out together as the example earlier
ĐI CHƠI ĐI let's go have fun together/ let's go play together/ let's go out together
sweat MỒ HÔI
example I'm sweating so much it wet my shirt
ĐỔ MỒ HÔI ƯỚT HẾT CẢ ÁO
and this word is funny because when broken down
MỒ means grave
HÔI mean stinky or foul
and MỒ HÔI just mean magically sweat
